FAQs

Q: When should I start my wedding dress search?

A: We suggest you start your dress search ideally a year in advance. We would advise you have secured your dress order at least 6 months prior to the wedding, this allows time for the gown/fabric to be ordered, made and fitted. We are occasionally able to fulfil an order with a shorter lead time, depending upon availability and circumstance, alternatively, we are happy to give you our sister shops details who sell gowns off the peg.

Q: Do I need to book an appointment?

A: Yes, we have a large, private consultation room where all our appointments take place. It is advisable to book an appointment to ensure the room and a designer is available. Initial consultations usually last up to an hour and half to ensure a professional, relaxed and enjoyable experience.

Q: Who should I bring with me?

A: We understand that this special experience is one you wish to share with your family and close friends and we really do welcome that, however, we do advise for a number of reasons that you try to limit your guests to around 2 or 3. Bring people whose opinion matters to you and who are honest. We also recommend wherever possible that you come without the children, you will find it a much more relaxing experience and be able to enjoy a well earned couple of hours of “you time”.

Q: What sizes are your samples?

A: Our samples range from size 10-18.

Q: What is the price range of your collections?

A: Our gowns range from £1,500 to just over £3,000 in both our bespoke and designer collections. If your budget is under £1,000 we are happy to give you our sister shops details.

Q: What happens when I find my perfect gown?

A: Once you have decided on your bridal gown, we will take your measurements and discuss the size chart with you if it is a designer gown. You will then pay a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your order and enable us to place the order with the designer or order your fabric if it is a bespoke gown. The remaining 50% of your gown will be due at your hem fitting approximately 8 weeks before your wedding day. We also schedule all your fittings so you know exactly when your appointments are and what you need to bring with you. We also send you a letter so you have all the details in writing, along with a copy of our terms and conditions.

Q: Do you provide a fitting service?

A: To ensure a perfect fit, your gown may need a few tweaks. We have in-house seamstresses here in York who carry out any alterations which may be required. These alteration costs are payable for at your final and collect appointment.

Our estimated alteration charges are explained below. This will fluctuate according to the gowns design.

Side seam alteration…………From £75
